Michael "Teddy" Bertolatus

Michael “Teddy” Bertolatus is a Houston-based attorney who advises business owners, executives, entrepreneurs, and investors on corporate, commercial, and real estate matters. Since earning his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2013, he has focused his practice on helping clients navigate business formation, growth, transition, and investment with practical, strategic legal counsel.

Teddy’s corporate and business practice includes entity formation and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, governance matters, ownership transitions, succession planning, and the negotiation and drafting of significant commercial agreements. He regularly advises closely held businesses and established companies on both operational legal issues and major strategic decisions, including in an outside general counsel role.

With a foundation in business litigation, Teddy approaches transactions and advisory work with a careful focus on risk allocation, enforceability, and the real-world consequences of contractual language. He works to give clients clear, direct guidance without unnecessary jargon, so they can make informed decisions with confidence.

A Houston native, Teddy brings local perspective and a steady, business-oriented approach to his representation. He is admitted to practice in Texas and in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, and is a member of the Texas Bar College, the State Bar of Texas Business Law Section, and the Houston Bar Association. He is also active in charitable and community organizations in Houston, including Houston Children’s Charity.
